pra.im is an URL shortener. In addition to what similar services offer, we have distinct advantages

• Application Programming Interface: Right now, application developers can easily send commands to shorten URLs. It can be integrated in Twitter, Laconica clients and similar applications. It supports straight ASCII, JSON and XML. See our developers page for more information. License permitting, we will feature on this site a few open source applications customized to use pra.im as the URL shortener.
• Check against URL blacklists: We protect you against phishing and malware web sites by checking the links against blacklists of well known dangerous web sites. Currently, we use Google Safe Browsing, Phishtank, Subrl, Spamhaus and URIBl to validate the submitted URLs.
• Your choice of short URL: either http://pra.im/abcdef or http://abcdef.pra.im
• Re-shorten a short URL: Get a pra.im short name from an already shortened URL from another service. We support more than 300 different ones. Additionally, because we check the links against kwown phishing and malware lists, you can be sure you will not propagate dangerous links.
• E-mail addresses: enter an e-mail address and it will return an HTTP "mailto:" hyperlink. This will help to hide your e-mail address from spammers on web pages.
• Statistics: We have a list of the most popular links, as well as per URL stats.
• Expand short URLs to original value
